Apple Could Launch iPhone Mini For Upcoming Summer

The latest speculation about Apple, despite the iPhone 5S/6, is a new mini smartphone. Allegedly Apple plans to launch a mini version of iPhone handsets. With the great success of iPad Mini, this looks like a good move. First of all, it will be much more affordable which then opens it to a much larger user base. According to a Peter Misek from Jeffries, a cheaper iPhone from Apple should be somewhere between $200 and $250. Either way, it seems that 2013 will be the year of smartphones.

"We believe Apple will have to launch an 'iPhone Mini' at some point over the next three years to address the hundreds of millions of prepaid users worldwide that cannot afford the current iPhone. The iPhone 5 is growing fast and profitably right now, so there is limited incentive for Apple to launch a profit-squeezing 'iPhone Mini' this year. We expect the 'iPhone Mini' to be more likely next year, in 2014, when Apple's penetration of the global postpaid smartphone market will be nearing saturation and Apple will be forced to discover fresh growth streams elsewhere," said Strategy Analytics analyst Neil Mawston.
