SamMobile has reported that the recently introduced Samsung Galaxy Round, a giant 5.7-inch phablet which also happens to be the world's first Smartphone with a curved display, is indeed just a prototype device for the company to learn from, and will have limited availability sales. This report almost confirms that the Galaxy Round will never make its way outside of South Korea. In fact, even in their home country, availability of stock is expected to be limited at best. Of course, a Smartphone with a $1000 price tag doesn't attract a whole lot of buyers in the first place.
Think of the Galaxy Round as a prototype to test flexible AMOLED displays. The real killer would be the Galaxy Round 2, but don't expect to see such a device hit the market for at least the next 7-8 months.
