Blizzard Wins Lawsuit Against Bot Maker

After hashing it out in court for two years, Blizzard Entertainment has won the legal battle against Ceiling Fan Software over their creation of bot software that players in the game World of Warcraft could use to automate various actions in the MMO game.

The company made two bots which players could purchase called "Pocket Gnome" and "Shadow Bot". Blizzard stated that this is a violation of the terms of use, and the courts agreed and award the company with a $7,000,000 judgement in the case. It's estimated that the company had pulled in about $290,000 from their little endeavor, so unless they can appeal and get the judgement reduced or reversed, bankruptcy is almost certain.
