Nintendo has officially stopped selling the Wii in Japan. While we already knew that it was coming, we just didn't know when. Earlier today, the company quietly changed the status of the console as "discontinued" on the official Nintendo Japan website. Don't worry, for it isn't the end. You can still find stocks in small retail stores, and going 2nd hand is always an option, but this is only applicable to Japan. Residents of other countries can still purchase a Wii or Wii Mini (depending on the region), and people of Japan can just pick up a new Wii U which has full backward compatibility.
