Early reports were suggesting that Facebook could monetize Instagram, a popular online photo and video sharing network. Unfortunately, rumours are now confirmed as the company rolled out its first advertisement. To show how the ads will look like, Instagram showed an example ad in a blog post on its site.
To recognize sponsored posts from normal posts, Instagram added a "Sponsored" banner in the top right corner, replacing the time stamp. Luckily, the advertisements can be hidden by clicking the "More" button. One of the first brands to jump on the bandwagon are Levis and Ben and Jerry's.
