Analyst Brian White with Topeka Capital Markets was reportedly told by industry sources at the Consumer Electronics Show that Apple plans to announce two new iPads within the next two months. The fifth-generation iPad should feature a lighter and thinner design, so it seems that we will have to get used to shorter release cycles for the iPad.
The analyst also mentions that the iPad mini 2 will be introduced alongside the iPad, featuring a faster processor. Even though White did not confirm which of its components would be updated, most analysts agree that Apple will include a Retina display on iPad mini 2.
"Our checks at CES indicate Apple will release the iPad 5 and the second-generation iPad Mini this March. The iPad 5 is expected to be lighter and thinner than the iPad 4 that was released in October, while the form factor of the iPad Mini should be similar to the first generation iPad Mini that debuted in October."
