While some manufacturers are cutting its production and focusing only to specific products, Pioneer is looking to come back into television market in Europe which they left back in March 2010. The company made a deal with European electronics retailer Dixons which now have the rights to "source, develop, produce and sell" Pioneer-branded TVs in certain European markets.
"We're delighted to collaborate with Dixons Retail. With our unparalleled reputation for cutting edge technology and sophisticated designs, we know these technologically advanced high-end TVs have a unique place within the market. Our decision to work with Dixons Retail was a natural one, as we highly value their clear customer focus, market leading positions and innovative approach to retailing.
With their highly respectful approach to the premium positioning of the Pioneer brand, alongside our loyal customer base, we believe this is a winning combination and we're excited to watch these new products transport customers in to a world of fun, entertainment and interactivity," said Yoshihide Beppu, Business Planning Director of Pioneer Home Electronics Corporation.
The production will start next month and they have in plans 40-, 46 and 55-inch TVs with 3D and Smart TV capabilities along with 1080p support. Each TV will have built-in Wi-Fi, USB and HDMI ports. At the moment, TVs will be sold only in the Nordic region, but in future Dixons has plans to extend into the UK market.
