Microsoft has been in construction of a "green" cloud data center in Cheyenne Wyoming that will be powered by Methane gas harvested from Dry Creek Water Reclamation Facility. The data center is completely off the local power grid and will be built in 'modules."
The estimated 200-kilowatt plant will be located next to a 300-kilowatt fuel cell from a company named FuelCell Energy. The new plant will then filter out the contaminants from the methane gas and direct any unused energy back to the Dry Creek Water Reclamation Facility.
Microsoft stated in one of their blog posts; the plan "will be the first direct integration of a data center with a biogas source."
