Apple Cuts iPhone 5 Component Orders

According to the Wall Street Journal and people familiar with the matter, Apple has cut iPhone 5 screen orders to nearly a half of what has the company planned. This could be a sign of sagging demand, which could be a sign to Apple as the iPhone 5 is far from an old device. In addition, the company also trimmed orders for other screen sizes as well as some other components.

"Apple's orders for iPhone 5 screens for the January-March quarter, for example, have dropped to roughly half of what the company had previously planned to order. It is not just iPhone 5 display orders that have been cut either. Apparently orders for other components are being reappraised by Apple. The company notified the relevant manufacturers last month."

On the other side, this could as well suggest that Apple plans to announce the new iPhone. Rumour has it that Apple is preparing to launch one or more new iPhone models by the end of Q2 2013. This means we could see the iPhone 5S at WWDC while iPhone 6 could come in fall 2013.
