Zopo ZP998 Announced, First "True Octa-Core" Smartphone Costs $299

Barely a day after MediaTek officially announced the world's first true octa-core Smartphone processor, Chinese phone maker Zopo has officially announced the world's first "true octa-core" Smartphone. But that's not all that Zopo is offering with the ZP998. Featuring the MediaTek MT6592 with its eight CPU cores clocked at 1.7 GHz and quad-core ARM Mali-450 GPU clocked at 700 MHz, the Zopo ZP998 packs 2 GB of RAM, a 5.5-inch 1080p IPS LCD display (401 ppi pixel density), 32 GB of expandable storage, USG OTG, Bluetooth 4.0 LE and a will-get-the-job-done 2,400 mAh battery (we were hoping to see a 3,000 mAh unit at the very least).

Zopo's new flagship also features an unheard of 14 megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, a 5 MP front facing camera and Android Jelly Bean out-of-the-box. Keep in mind, although the Chinese phone maker has announced the ZP998 and even begun taking pre-orders, the device won't ship before 30 days. That's a long waiting time, but it's probably worth it, especially when you consider the device's amazing price tag of just $299 (that's cheap right? I know!).
