Apple is on the verge of launching a new 4th generation iPad variant, one armed with 128 GB of storage. It will be available in both cellular+WiFi and WiFi-only variants; and both black and white bezel color options, making up for four new SKUs. The four were uncovered when our pesky colleagues at 9to5Mac dug around iOS 6.1 beta code, and iTunes 11. It's known that Cupertino refers to the 16, 32, and 64 GB variants in internal documents as "good," "better," and "best," respectively, the next logical adjective has to be "ultimate." The four SKUs listed out are:
- ME392LL/A: 4th Gen. iPad 128 GB, WiFi-only, Black bezel; P101 ULTIMATE A-USA
- ME393LL/A: 4th Gen. iPad 128 GB, WiFi-only, White bezel; P101 ULTIMATE B-USA
- ME406LL/A: 4th Gen. iPad 128 GB, WiFi+Cellular, Black bezel; P103 ULTIMATE A-USA
- ME407LL/A: 4th Gen. iPad 128 GB, WiFi+Cellular, White bezel; P103 ULTIMATE B-USA
It's quite likely that launch of the variant could be rather hush-hush, ahead of Apple's Spring launch of the rumored 5th generation iPad.
