Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab II 7.0 Garnet Red Edition, featuring the same quirky red color scheme the Galaxy S III got last June. The new variant of Samsung's 7-incher boasts of a glossy red bezel framing its 1024 x 600-pixel screen, and a patterned matte back with chrome inserts. Samsung is quite obviously gunning for sales ahead of Valentine's Day, which is a little over a fortnight away.
The Galaxy Tab II 7.0 makes for a great inexpensive gift, partly thanks to its specifications. Behind its 1024 x 600-pixel capacitive TFT LCD screen is a TI OMAP dual-core ARM CPU clocked at 1 GHz, 512 MB of RAM, 8 GB of expandable internal storage, and Android 4.1 "Jelly Bean" running Samsung's multi-window UI.
Available in limited quantities to buyers in the US, the Galaxy Tab II 7.0 Garnet Red Edition is available from the likes of Amazon, Walmart, Office Depot, Tiger Direct, Fry's Electronics and Toys-R-Us.
