PC Versions of Minecraft Pass 14 Million Units Sold

A couple of days ago, Markus "Notch" Persson dropped a short tweet that the PC versions of their voxel based, block building game Minecraft had now surpassed fourteen million units sold. The PC game was first released in May of 2009 as an alpha version.

Given the seemingly endless popularity of the game it's no wonder that it has since been released on Windows PC, Mac OS X, Linux, Raspberry Pi, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Android, iOS and is slated to be released for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation Vita.

For all the Football fans in the United States (or abroad) he also tweeted this ...

... He probably is not very happy as we know how that turned out for Denver.

Anyway, if you want to jump into our time machine for a bit, here's a video from Notch (using his old YouTube name "Nizzotch") when he still referred to it as an Infiniminer clone and was called "Cave Game".
