Xiaomi has officially announced the successor to the immensely popular Smartphone dubbed Hongmi. The Xiaomi Hongmi 1S is very much like its predecessor, save for one critical difference, its chipset. Ditching MediaTek's quad-core MT6589 SoC, a 1.6 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 chipset from Qualcomm is running the show this time round. Apart from that, not much has changed - 4.7-inch HD (1280 x 720) IPS LCD display, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB expandable storage, 8 MP rear camera, a 2,000 mAh removable battery, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean running MIUI V5 on top - and that's a good thing.
Priced at ¥799 (roughly $130), the Xiaomi Hongmi 1S packs a mean punch for its price. Here's hoping that it makes its way across Chinese borders, officially, this time.
