HTC announced today that all new flagships introduced by the company in North America will receive software support for at least 2 years. To quote, new flagships will receive all 'major Android updates' for the aforementioned period. This promise has been made with respect to 'new' flagships, not existing ones. HTC One is already being treated with KitKat, but the previous flagship (One X) got stuck at Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean (ouch!).
Unfortunately, this only applies to the North American region, which baffles us a bit. Is the global market not significantly important as North America alone? Think hard HTC, you don't want disgruntled fans from all across the globe, just to please one continent.
