Hackers, up to their usual antics to create a nuisance, managed to hack Kickstarter's website, stealing user data such as email ids, phone numbers, usernames, mailing addresses, etc. in the process. The co-founder of Kickstarter released a statement that the breach has been sealed and security has been doubled. Fortunately, the hackers didn't get their hands on any sensitive credit card info.
"We have since improved our security procedures and systems in numerous ways, and we will continue to do so in the weeks and months to come." - Yancey Strickler, CEO, Kickstarter
