With the success of its "Education Series" lineup, Dell today announced the Latitude 13 notebook which starts at a very affordable $539. The 13.3-inch Dell Latitude 13 is intended for kids as it can withstand any amount of punishment that they can toss their way.
Dell Latitude 13 sports rubberized chassis that protects the notebook against drops and being banged around. To protect from sticky fingers and scratches, Dell uses Corning Gorilla Glass for display which has a touchscreen option available. Furthermore, the keyboard and touchscreen are fully sealed to protect against spilled drinks and "has been subject to military-standard testing."
Inside, the base model features an Intel Core i3 processor, 4 GB of RAM, 500 GB of storage, a 4-cell battery with up to 8 hours of lifespan and includes Windows 7 operating system. There are expanding options such as larger 6-cell battery, SSD, faster CPU (Core i3 and Core i5 processors) and Windows 8 operating system.
In terms of connectivity, there are two USB ports, HDMI, Ethernet, mini DisplayPort and an SD card reader. At the moment, Dell Latitude 13 is available for pre-order and will go on sale on April 17.
