EU Parliament To End Roaming Charges

All those who travel a lot in Europe know something about high roaming costs. Back in July 2013, EU Parliament has slashed the pricing of mobile phone roaming costs. The next step in getting rid of barriers is completely removing the roaming charges for EU citizens.

Although this still needs to be voted on by the European Union Council, it is definitely a step forward for an easier life. The Council is expected to make a decision in October and if everything goes well, there will be no more roaming charges for EU citizens from December 2015.

"This vote is the EU delivering for citizens," said Neelie Kroes, the European commissioner for digital affairs. "This is what the EU is all about - getting rid of barriers to make life easier and less expensive. I am so pleased that we are now just one step from ending roaming charges and delivering net neutrality for all Europeans. This is an historic day for the open Internet."
