Apple recently acquired a company, rather quietly, that could possibly allow it to take Siri offline. Speech recognition is amazing, when it works, and when there's fast internet access available for virtual assistants to take advantage of. But what if, Siri could fulfill basic requests such as "Place a call..." or "Send a text..." without having to be connected to the internet? Perhaps with that dream, Apple acquired Novauris, a company known for its work on offline speech recognition.
We will learn what comes off this new acquisition with the next update to Siri.
