FTC To Make Sure That Facebook And WhatsApp Take User Privacy Seriously

The Federal Trade Commission, in a statement released yesterday, announced that they will give their blessing to the Facebook-WhatsApp $19 billion mega-deal only if both companies swear to continue to respect user privacy, i.e. abide by the trust that users place on them with their personal data and not misuse it in any manner. If Facebook, or WhatsApp do anything otherwise, the company will face severe action under Section 5 of the FTC act. Beware Facebook, the FTC is watching.
