ASUS Teases FonePad MWC Launch

Upon Mobile World Congress, Intel-powered ASUS tablet gets confirmed. According to a listing from the Global Certification Forum's site, ASUS is indeed planning the FonePad tablet. Along with the listing, ASUS has released a new teaser video for MWC. The video features Barcelona's Columbus Monument talking on his stone tablet which sounds a lot like the FonePad.

From what we know, the FonePad will use a new Lexington Intel Atom Z2420 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz combined with the PowerVR SGX540 graphics card. A 7-inch IPS display has a touchscreen support and resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. In addition, there will be 1 GB of RAM, a micro SDHC memory card reader slot.

The tablet has an aluminum case with two integrated cameras; 3-megapixel rear-facing and 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera. Unfortunately, there will not be support for LTE, but there are WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G, a SIM card slot and a GPS receiver.

Measuring 10.4 mm at its thickest point, the FonePad reportedly weighs 340 g with 4,270 mAh battery. The tablet is expected to be officially announced at the MWC next week.
