Facebook Announces App Links At F8 2014

Facebook has unveiled App Links, a new way to create links between various mobile apps. This open source solution that works across multiple mobile platforms, allowing users browsing content on one app to be navigated directly to another app upon clicking a link. Basically, what's happening here is that the metadata required to navigate to an app is embedded in these links, which could be anywhere - on the web, in an app or even hosted online as a simple link.

Initial partners for this new technology include Quip, Spotify, Movietickets, Mixcloud, Redfin, Mailbox, Pinterest, iHeartradio, Vimeo, EyeEm, Wattpad, Endomondo, Venmo, Houzz, Tumblr, Hulu, Flixster, Goodreads, DailyMotion, Flickr, Songkick, Fancy, Rdio, Rhapsody, and Vevo.
