Polaroid has agreed to lend its name to a Socialmatic camera. In the concept above, it prints photos just like an old Polaroid would, and looks like an Instagram icon come to life. A Polaroid licensee has agreed to make items such as camera bags, lenses, filters and other camera accessories.
There are pretty much no technical details either. We're guessing it will be an Android camera with every-single option there is to share your photos. Another safe bet is that the photos will be square just like Kodak Instamatic and Polaroid images.
"We are so proud to work together with C & A and Polaroid, giants of digital photography." - said Mr. Antonio De Rosa, CEO of Socialmatic. "It's been a long and difficult negotiation but we were strongly motivated to reach an agreement to create a small revolution in digital photography. This mix of Hardware and Software, together with our brand new photo social network will fill the gap between virtuality and reality."
Hopefully the camera will retain the instant print capability, while the Post-It feature (shown in the video below) is a nice touch too. The design should be finished and in shops for the first quarter of 2014. The camera will be built by Polaroid licensee, C&A Marketing.
