Alienware Announces $549 Steam Machine

Alienware has introduced its own Alpha Steam Machine at E3. The gaming PC will cost $549 and when it becomes available, the device will ship with Windows 8.1 and an Xbox 360 controller rather than a custom controller. Since Valve is still working on SteamOS, Alienware says that the Alpha will utilize Steam Big Picture to begin with and then support SteamOS and the Steam Controller when they launch.

The cheapest version of the Alpha includes an Intel Core i3 processor, 4GB of RAM, Nvidia graphics card, and 500GB of storage.
