AT&T, Verizon Support Microsoft's Challenge Of Government Email Request

Microsoft is challenging a US government request to have the company hand over foreign email content. Both Verizon and AT&T are now supporting Microsoft in its challenge, stating that the US government's actions could hurt privacy around the world. The basis for Microsoft's challenge is that the emails are stored on an Irish server that the US does not have jurisdiction over.

The company says that any of the digital warrants that the US issues should be subject to the same restrictions that physical warrants have.
