Microsoft Resumes Windows Phone 7.8 Update

Microsoft has reported that the Windows Phone 7.8 is back on track. The new Live Tiles update seemingly used heavy amounts of data which resulted in heavy battery loss. According to the company, the problem is now resolved, and the update is again available.

Along with the software update announcement, Microsoft announced that support for Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 7.8 ends next year. The WP 8 is set to end on July 8, 2014 while the WP 7.8 will end its support cycle on September 9, 2014.

This falls in line with the company's previous commitment to 18 months of support for its mobile OS flavors. Windows Phone 8.5/9 is rumoured to come in November 2013 and with 18 month support.
