NVIDIA didn't stop at announcing its "Titan" graphics card for gaming PCs, rolling out the Tegra 4i, its first SoC with 4G LTE soft-modem logic fully integrated into the SoC, designed for smartphones. The company even rolled out a reference-design smartphone.

Apparently, NVIDIA's recent purchase of Icera is paying off in a big way, with the company announcing the i500 soft modem chip. About 40 percent smaller than other baseband chips, the i500 is capable of pushing a staggering 1.2 trillion operations per second.
