A source speaking to Tweakers.net has started rumours that we could see Dell challenging Apple's Retina MacBook Pro with their new Precision notebook. It seems that the rumours are true, as Dell released a statement confirming a new addition to their Precision range of workstations.
Although the company has yet to confirm its specifications, Dell Precision M3800 will allegedly feature an Intel Core i7-4702MQ processor,a 2 GB NVIDIA Quadro K1100M graphics card and up to 16 GB of RAM. There will be two storage options, a 1 TB hard drive or 512 GB SSD.
"Dell is introducing the thinnest and lightest workstation ever later this year. The Dell Precision M3800 is the first mobile workstation that is less than ¾ of an inch, at 18 mm, weighs only 4.5 lbs and offers certified performance and dependability for creative professionals. We are not releasing or confirming any additional details today but stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks," said the company.
There will also be two options for the 15.6-inch screen. A 1080p panel will come as the base option, while the company will offer a 3,200 x 1,800 resolution which has a pixel density much higher than the 2,880 x 1,800 Retina display featured on the MacBook Pro's.
The Precision M3800 measure 18 mm at its thickest point and weighs up to 2 kg. According to report, an expected price is around $1,699 to $1,999, but we'll have to wait official confirmation.
