Long posts aren't going to be a part of Twitter in the near future. The social network is not getting rid of its 140-character limit on tweets, according to CEO Jack Dorsey. It was widely reported the network was going to ditch that limit, but Dorsey has countered those claims.
It's staying. It's a good constraint for us and it allows for of-the-moment brevity. - Dorsey
Twitter allegedly considered changing its limit to 10,000 characters, which would have made the platform more like Facebook. Dorsey even provided some fuel for those claims by pointing at the common practice of attaching an image to one's tweet to expand their character limit as something that could disappear from the site.
