Qualcomm Unveils New Wi-Fi Chips That Support 820.11ax Standard

Almost every device now has a wireless chip inside, but not every supports the latest standard. To improve performance of current chips, and lower the cost, Qualcomm has unveiled a new pair of chips that support the latest 802.11ax standard, called IPQ8074 and QCA6290.

The IPQ8074 chip is designed for the next generation of enterprise access points, carrier gateways and consumer routers. It has a 2.0 GHz quad-core 802.11ax integrated SoC and supports 12-streams (eight 5 GHz and four 2.4GHz), 8×8 MU-MIMO, 80 MHz channels and other features to maximize performance. The second chip is designed for homes, enterprises, public venues and other high-traffic areas, and automobiles. with 2×2 configuration support.
