Chinese smartphone company Huawei has officially unveiled its newest flagship chipset called Kirin 970. The chipset brings one of the biggest change to the market, as it includes built-in artificial intelligence unit and is manufactured using 10nm process.
The AI runs on a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) and delivers up to 25 times the performance with 50 times greater efficiency.
The chipset itself packs an 8-core processor and a 12-core GPU, which Huawei said delivers 25x greater performance and 50x greater efficiency compared to a quad-core Cortex-A73 CPU cluster. The efficiency of the GPU has also been improved compared to the Kirin 960.
Other specifications include support for 4K video decode/encode (H.265, H.264 and others), 10-bit color (HDR10) and a 32-bit/384K DAC.
