Seven years after its release, Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty is switching to a free-to-play model. Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaine announced the switch during the opening ceremony at BlizzCon 2017. People who've already paid for the title will get the Heart of the Swarm expansion for free.
Ranked multiplayer will also be available at no cost, though only after players achieve 10 First Wins of the Day in unranked or versus modes.
Those who want to play more than the base campaign can get the Heart of the Swarm, Legacy of the Void and Nova Covert Ops expansions for $15 each.
This change will be implemented on November 14.
