EA may stop coming out with new Madden and FIFA titles every year. Speaking with Bloomberg, EA chief Andrew Wilson mentioned the possibility that annual releases could be swapped for a greater focus on game updates and subscription options.
This means players would have less frequent full-game purchases, but they'd have to continue paying throughout a title's life cycle to remain updated. Doing this would mean treating those games as a "365-day, live service."
Wilson says this has become an actual possibility now that people are moving away from physical copies to downloadable content.
