The current console generation will persist at least a couple more years, says Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. Speaking on an investor's call, Guillemot explained how iterative upgrades, like the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X, mean a new generation is still years away.
We think we still have a minimum of two years in front of us before something new is coming, - Guillemot
Iterative upgrades mean there's less pressure to start a new generation. Further, the Xbox One and PS4 are just four years old. It'll be a few more years before they've even been around as long as the last generation lasted.
Guillemot says his opinion is just based on "perception," not any insider knowledge about plans from Sony and Microsoft.
